Expert panel to develop comprehensive research paper on nuclear power
With nuclear energy suggested as a new source of electricity for Albers, the Alberta Government has appointed an expert panel to prepare a comprehensive and objective report on nuclear energy. By fully examining the environmental, safety and numerous other issues related to nuclear-generated electricity, the panel’s report will provide the basis for future public discussions.  

Saskatchewan residents favour nuclear options
A recent poll indicates Saskatchewan residents are in favour of both a uranium refinery and a nuclear power plant being located in the province.  

CNSC to Start Pre-project Design Review of ACR-1000
Atomic Energy of Canada Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission for pre-project design review activities on the ACR-1000.The ACR-1000 is Atomic Energy of Canada’s evolutionary, Gen III+*, 1200 MWe class pressure tube reactor. It is a light water cooled, heavy water moderated pressure tube reactor derived from the well-established CANDU line.
