Okotoks, Alberta Canada’s First Solar Neighbourhood
Houses in the Drake Landing Solar Community in Okotoks, Alberta obtain 90 per cent of their heat from solar panels and only 10 per cent from natural gas. Residents in the community not only save on heating bills, but substantially reduce their carbon footprint as well.  
Solar Technologies Evaluated at ENMAX Solar Demonstration Centre
ENMAX Energy Corporation, an electricity retailer in Alberta, has set up a site on the roof of its corporate headquarters to test and evaluate new solar technologies. The demonstration centre was created in response to consumers looking for inexpensive ways to reduce their carbon footprints.  
Passive Solar Heating Anything but Passive
A need for hot water at an isolated cottage has blossomed into a successful company focused on passive solar heating. Conserval Engineering Inc.’s SolarWall product preheats inflow air, cutting down on the amount of fuel needed to bring it to room temperature.
